Chain controls and spin-outs making for slow exit from Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Its been a standstill in Meyers Sunday morning as snow perhaps caught some people without chains on their vehicles by surprise. Caltrans was holding traffic on Highway 50 in Meyers as crews worked to get cars out of snowbanks on Echo Summit, but it has since started moving. They were pulling in multiple towtrucks from the area and advising them to tow all cars without chains. Some tow trucks were stuck in traffic on North Upper Truckee Road and on the highway. I80 near the SR89 exit is slow-moving at this time.

Expect snow or rain in the Sierra through the afternoon.
