Local restaurateur offers free meals to law enforcement personnel and families August 1

Ted Kennedy continues to show his appreciation for local heroes through his South Lake Tahoe restaurants.

Kennedy, who on the ownership team of Base Camp Pizza, California Burger, Azul Latin Kitchen and now, the Lakeside Beach House, shows gratitude on a weekly basis. Those in uniform and teachers get a free meal at any of his four restaurants (police officers, sheriff's deputies, fire personnel, nurses and those on active duty).

"This is to thank them, and show that we appreciate their service," said Kennedy. "They are our local heroes."

Now he has taken these gestures one step above on August 1, 2016 as Kennedy is honoring all police and other law enforcement officers at the following local establishments with a free meal for the family from open to close:

California Burger Co – in the Heavenly Village
Beach House – on Lakeside Beach
The Beer Garden – in the Base Camp Hotel

Kennedy says the officer doesn't have to be in uniform to enjoy the free food and drink.

"Eat and drink as much as you like on us, you and your whole family," said Kennedy. "We appreciate you. We’re honored to have you with us. We can’t thank you enough for what you do. We want you to know that we stand behind you."

He said they will be doing a bigger "Thank You" in September with all of his group's restaurants around the lake, and he'd like other local businesses to join in.

"We simply could not wait to let you know that we are in your corner," said to the officers through a Facebook message. "It is said that there is no greater love than that someone would lay down their life for another, and we want you to know that we appreciate you for that love that you show to our community."

Back in May, Kennedy "paid it forward" to his employees at California Burger by giving them double of the restaurant's proceeds for the day.
