Director sought to fill Tahoe Paradise Recreation and Park District vacancy

The Tahoe Paradise Recreation and Park District (TPRPD) is accepting applications until October 15, 2018 for appointment to the position of Director. The five person board of directors had three openings for the November 6 elections and only two people submitted papers to run.

The Tahoe Paradise Resort Improvement District was created in 1965 and was an antiquated legal entity so it was converted to Tahoe Paradise Recreation and Park District one year ago. Part of that reorganization required the El Dorado County Supervisor to no longer sit as a member of the board along with four residents of the part district.

Incumbents Joe Cardinale and Peter Nelligan are seeking reelection, but the person assigned to fill Supervisor Novasel's spot chose not to run.

Applications are being sought for the third board position. Since no election will take place in this case, they must be confirmed by the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors.

The occupant of this unpaid position works with the four other district directors to set policy for and to manage the district and Tahoe Paradise Park. Directors attend regular meetings on the fourth Thursday evening of each month, and special meetings as necessary. The successful applicant will be committed to assisting the district to achieve the goals established in the Paradise Park Master Plan (available at tahoeparadisepark.com). District directors must be registered voters in the Tahoe Paradise Recreation and Park District.

The district website is at tahoeparadisepark.com. Application letters may be emailed to Babbitt, or sent by U.S. mail to Tahoe Paradise Recreation and Park District, P.O. Box 550575, S. Lake Tahoe, CA. 96155.
