COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials say another 64 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since Friday. Of those, 18 are in El Dorado Hills, eight in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, four in North County, four in Greater Placerville, three in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, one in Diamond Springs/El Dorado, and 24 in Lake Tahoe region. There are two results awaiting address confirmation.

One of those new cases, seven are under the age of 18, 40 are aged 18-49, 13 are aged 50-64, and four aged 65 or older.

Another 850 people were tested for the coronavirus and 786 negative tests results were received.

There have been another 35 assumed recoveries with 299 assumed active cases.

There are currently three COVID-19 patients in the Marshall or Barton hospital ICUs and no suspected cases hospitalized.

The county moves into the purple tier at noon on November 17.

To move to the yellow/minimal tier, the average daily rate of new cases needs to be less than one per 100,000 residents, and positivity rate of less than two percent for the previous two weeks. This cannot be done until being in the orange tier for three weeks at a minimum.

The County dashboard shows cases by episode date, not by the date El Dorado County Public Health was notified about the new case. Episode date is the earliest of the following dates: (symptom onset date, diagnosis date, specimen collection date, date received, or date of death) and serves as the best approximation of the date of infection.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 3.6 percent positivity and the 14-day rate of new cases is 150 (+38) (these figures do not include today's data).

The Lake Tahoe region of the county is in the High Tier (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 100) and is joined there by El Dorado/Diamond Springs, Shingle Springs/Cameron Park/Rescue, El Dorado Hills and a newcomer, Placerville. Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz and North County are in the Moderate Tier (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 26-99). South County in the only area in the low tier (25 or less per 100,000 for last 14 days).

County-wide there have been 1,701 cases with 651 of those in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Strawberry, and Tahoma).

We are reporting 449 new cases and 69 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region since Friday. 23 of these additional 55 new cases are from the Warm Springs Correctional Facility in Carson City. This brings the total number of cases to 2,693, with 1,973 recoveries and 27 deaths; 693 cases remain active.

The Regional Information Center is reporting 843 new COVID-19 cases and five new deaths in Washoe County since Friday.

Their seven-day test rate is 5.5 percent positive, and average daily case rate for last 7 days is 12.6 per 100,000. Seven- day increase is 10.0 percent, 14-day increase is 19.4 percent.
