Small child found asleep in car with hypodermic needles and pill bottles

Four people were arrested by the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office (EDSO) after a child was found asleep in a car full of hypodermic needles and pill bottles at the Red Hawk Casino in Shingle Springs, Calif.

Security officers from the casino noticed the car in their parking structure with the occupants asleep with a child asleep in the back seat. As they looked closer they could also see many hypodermic needles and pill bottles throughout the vehicle and called the deputies.

When the EDSO deputies arrived they learned the two people in the car were watching the child as her mother was inside the casino. A search of the vehicle led to the arrest of four, including the child's mother, for multiple drug related and child endangerment offenses.

The child was cared for by a Red Hawk employee until Child Protective Services arrived.

"Great teamwork between the Sheriff's Office and Red Hawk Casino, possibly saving the life of this child," stated a Facebook post by EDSO.
