Food assistance in South Lake Tahoe through the holidays

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Many people in the South Lake Tahoe area could use some extra help during the holidays, and local sources of free food are available to help ease some needs.

Bread & Broth will be open on Monday, December 21 and 28 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. with bags of food. Also, their Friday food bag operation will not be open on Christmas Day but will resume on New Year's Day, January 1, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. They are located at St. Theresa Grace Hall at 1041 Lyons Avenue, South Lake Tahoe.

Phoenix Food Pantry at Lake Tahoe Community Presbyterian Church is open for drive through or walk up bags of food on Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. They are located at 2733 Lake Tahoe Blvd., South Lake Tahoe.

Christmas Cheer will have its doors open Tuesday and Wednesday, December 22/23 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. They are closed Christmas Eve and next week, resuming operations January 5, 2020.

Father Mauricio at St. Theresa Catholic Church has purchased 100 pizzas that can be picked up on Christmas Day from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., or until they last. The church is at 1041 Lyons Avenue, South Lake Tahoe.

Hope Full Lunch at Hope Lutheran Church provides lunches on Wednesdays at various locations as they drive through South Lake Tahoe and on Fridays at the church from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The church is located at 930 Julie Lane, South Lake Tahoe..
