Supper Stroll Storyteller Night hits home, raises money for South Lake Tahoe library

Leadership Lake Tahoe produced a new kind of fundraiser on Ski Run Boulevard April 28 called the Unforgettable Supper Stroll and Storytellers’ Night. Event organizers Kalia Knutson, Jeff Sterns and Jeff Cowen aimed to combine three goals into an innovative event: raise funds for the Friends of the Library, promote local businesses during the shoulder season and highlight South Tahoe’s local history to promote pride in the community.

V&T Railroad offering special edition Mother's Day Train Rides

This Mother’s Day, take mom on an historical train excursion via the Virginia and Truckee Railroad Sunday, May 13.
This special edition train ride from Carson City to Virginia City will provide mom with a long stem rose, Wild West history, storytelling, shopping and dining in Virginia City to go along with the spectacular scenery. The train features a 1953 ALCO heritage diesel locomotive leading 100 year-old Pullman coaches displaying the distinctive yellow and green of the V&T.

Who's Al in Al Tahoe Presentation

Dr. David Borges, D.C., author, lecturer and historian will show homes and places of historical interest and other highlights in Tahoe's oldest neighborhood as part of the Lake Tahoe Historical Society lecture series.

Meyers Roundtable group meets tonight

Projects for the Meyers community will be discussed tonight, Wednesday, April 18, at the Lake Valley Fire Protection District office. The Meyers Roundtable Committee will take up the following:

— Presentation of Road Runner Canopy Project
— Government reports
— Report on the Meyers Community Plan Update
— Public Forum – discussions are to be no longer than 5 minutes per issue due to time constraints

All attendees are encouraged to park on Keetak Street due to limited on-site parking. The meeting will be held in the mobile unit located behind the fire station.

Washoe offers sacred name 'Tahnu Leweh' for Lakeview Commons in South Lake Tahoe

With the Washoe Tribe's offering and support of El Dorado County Supervisor Norma Santiago, a move is underway to rename Lakeview Commons Park at South Lake Tahoe in time for an official June 20 dedication.
Given its 6,000 year history, the Washoe Tribe has presented the name Tahnu Leweh (Pronounced Tah-New Lay-Way) which, in native language, means "all the people's place." It is a name the Tribe would like to gift to El Dorado County and South Lake Tahoe as a symbol of peace, prosperity and goodness, said Darrel Cruz, Culture and Language Director for the Washoe Tribe.

Lake of the Sky Outfitters to show movie 'The Way'

Annual Pony Express Re-Ride
