Get Fresh & Healthy Workshop: Kid Friendly Foods

Lake Tahoe Community College's Community Education series is offering "Get Fresh & Healthy - Food the Kids Will Love Too!" this Thursday from 6 pm to 9 pm at the main campus kitchen. Class participants will explore techniques of cooking with fresh fruits and vegetables in this inclusive hands-on workshop. The participant will learn and take home the recipe of a tasty GET FRESH dish the whole family will enjoy. Registration cost is $38.

The Community Education department at Lake Tahoe Community College presents “Get Fresh and Healthy” workshop series. This is a series of four workshops; however you can register for individual workshops OR for all four together! Each workshop is ONLY $38!!

• Cooking with Spices is on Thursday, February 2nd from 6pm-9pm.
This exciting workshop will help you learn to elevate the flavor of foods by using different herb and spice blends. The facilitator of this workshop is local and master gardener, Diane Weidinger.

• The Winter Soup Workshop is on Friday, February 10th from 6pm-9pm.

LTCC grant to help local kids move onward, upward

Lake Tahoe Community College has been awarded a five-year federal grant designed to provide academic support for 500 low-income, first generation college-bound students from South Tahoe Middle School and South Tahoe High. The Department of Education grant will be consist of five annual payments of about $230,000 each, said LTCC spokeswoman Christina Proctor. The college was informed it had been awarded the grant by the offices of California Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer.
