Imagine Dragons, Sammy Hagar and Slightly Stoopid added to Harveys Outdoor Arena lineup

Grammy-award winning alternative rock band Imagine Dragons has been added to the Harvey's Outdoor Concert Series with a performance on July 18. Imagine Dragons' debut album in 2012 produced a slew of hits which include "Radioactive," "It's Time," "Demons," "On Top Of The World," "Bleeding Out," "Tiptoes" and "Nothing Left To Say."

Their second album, "Smoke + Mirrors", was released in February. Tickets will cost $89.50-$179.50 and go on sale at 10 a.m. on March 20.

Hard Rock Lake Tahoe to add outdoor concerts this summer

The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in South Lake Tahoe announced today they will be hosting six to eight outdoor concerts this summer.

The rear parking lot at the Stateline property will be converted into an outdoor amphitheater that will seat up to 7,500 people.

In a venture with PR Entertainment, Inc. (owned by former Caesars Entertainment Director Paul Reder), Hard Rock is looking to attract top-name national artists to the Lake Tahoe area. They plan on starting the concerts in June and concluding on Labor Day weekend.

Aerosmith returns to the South Shore

Steven Tyler, Joe Perry and Aerosmith return to Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harvey's this summer during their "Back in the Saddle" tour. Start off your 4th of July festivities with a show that is sure to be it's own kind of fireworks!

If you missed last year's show, and love Aerosmith, you'll want to make sure you don't miss this one.

Five shows announced so far for Harvey's Outdoor Concert Series

Five big nights of music have already been announced for Harvey's Outdoor Concert venue and tickets are already selling.

The popular South Lake Tahoe spot will host Train as they tour the US on their Picasso at the Wheel Summer Tour. Train will be joined by The Fray & Matt Nathanson on Tuesday, July 21.

On Wednesday, July 22, superstar Kenny Chesney stops by on his Big Revival Tour 2015. Chesney is the only Country artist in Billboard’s Top 10 Tour Acts of the last 25 years. Chase Rice will also be on the bill.

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino offers free Valentine's Day concert

Numerous power outages around the Lake Tahoe region

A strong storm advancing through the Lake Tahoe area is causing isolated outages for some of Nevada Energy and Liberty Utilities’ customers. With winds at 35-50 mph and much stronger gusts over the ridges, utility officials would like to remind customers of the following safety measures.

- Always treat low hanging and downed power lines as if they were energized.
- Call 911 or notify Liberty Utilities’ toll-free emergency number at 1-844-245-6868 if you see downed power lines or damaged electrical equipment.

Tahoe Valley Area Plan one step closer to adoption

Almost twenty years later and the Tahoe Valley Area plan isn't in place, yet. John Hitchcock, the City of South Lake Tahoe Planning Manager, gave the Council another presentation on the status of the plan and where things stand as of today during Tuesday's City Council meeting.

First proposed in the early 1990's, the resurrection of the Tahoe Valley Area plan made great strides towards adoption in 2014 with Hitchcock holding four public meetings where input was requested, presenting the plan to TRPA three times, three times to City Council and twice to the planning commission.

STHS grad returns to the South Shore as Hard Rock's new Executive Chef

Nothing like returning to your hometown with a bang in the midst of the biggest thing to happen in South Lake Tahoe in quite some time. Jonathan Snyder, a 1991 graduate of South Tahoe High, returned to his roots Wednesday as the Executive Chef at the newly opened Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

Snyder greeted the media on Wednesday during the media tours of the hotel, restaurants and casino.

Tahoe Douglas Rotary's 47th St. Patrick's Day Celebration to honor first responders

Subaru WinterFest Kicks Off 2015 in South Lake Tahoe

The Second Annual Subaru Winterfest will be held at Sierra-at-Tahoe resort this weekend, January 3 and 4. Winterfest includes a Freeride Skills Course and equipment demos as well as the chance to meet an Olympian. South Lake Tahoe resident and Olympic Gold Medalist Maddie Bowman will be signing autographs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Subaru tent on Saturday. Bowman, 20, brought home the gold she won in the Women’s Ski Halfpipe in Sochi during the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.

Op/Ed: US Forest Service Supervisor handing over the reins

The New Year brings big changes both for me personally and for the Forest Service in Lake Tahoe. After 37 years with the agency, I’m looking forward to retirement and handing over the reins at the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit to a new Forest Supervisor.

I’m grateful for steady Basin leadership that has enhanced relationships making them stronger. Days of past tensions between conflicting interests have passed. Today, local agencies work closely together on solutions that protect our communities and our environment.

South Tahoe High grad opens up SnowGlobe with Vokab Kompany

South Tahoe High graduate Robbie Gallo (aka Rob Hurt), the founder, MC and front man for the popular hip hop band, Vokab Kompany, hits the main stage Monday to open up the three day outdoor concert in South Lake Tahoe.

Sunday night, he and the group were in Reno and will be spending New Year's Eve at Park West in Chicago, but for today, South Lake Tahoe gets their own back on stage at both SnowGlobe and the after concert at Blu Nightclub at MontBleu.

South Lake Tahoe prepares for SnowGlobe

The stages were being set up Monday at the Community Play Fields in South Lake Tahoe. Large tents could be seen from Al Tahoe Blvd as work crews were busy getting things ready for SnowGlobe which will be in South Lake Tahoe December 28-31.

Residents in the neighborhoods surrounding the fields and Lake Tahoe Community College received a letter recently from the City of South Lake Tahoe, alerting them that the three day outdoor concert is once again coming to the South Shore.

Tahoe Youth & Family Services holds annual Night of Giving Thursday

Tahoe Youth & Family Services is hosting their fifth annual Night of Giving 4:30-6:30 p.m. Dec. 18 at their South Lake Tahoe office at 1021 Fremont Avenue.

The night is used as an opportunity for the community to learn about what TYFS does and to help them out both financially and with items needed by the homeless youth they serve.

There will be light refreshments.

Heavenly Holidays New Year's Eve Celebration

Tahoe Adventure Film Festival returns to the South Shore

Breathtaking video footage of adventure thrill seekers as they ski, bike, jump, climb and surf around the world will be featured at the 13th Annual Tahoe Adventure Film Festival on Saturday, December 13.

MontBleu Resort & Spa is hosting the madcap on-screen adventure films and non-stop, on-stage party action. There is not just one movie on the screen, but a series of 10-12 minute clips from the industry's best videographers.

Skiers and boarders hit the slopes for opening day at Heavenly

Friday was opening day at Heavenly Mountain Resort in South Lake Tahoe, and if the crowds that hit the slopes is any indication, the weekend will be a busy one. The ski resort has been busy making snow since the Mother Nature variety has been lacking so far this season.

The resort is reporting an 18" base.

Heavenly Village was full of skiers, riders and families all day. The outdoor dining areas at Base Camp Pizza and Gun Barrel Tavern were busy for lunch and apres ski activities.

Long time director named Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel Chief Managing Officer.

Whole the Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel is undergoing $8 million dollars in renovations, the leadership of the hotel formerly known as "Embassy Suites" is also undergoing renovations.

The resort just celebrated a year of independence in April 2014 and is putting into place a management structure that throws away the corporate mold, and invests in the resort’s front line -- its staff.

Findorff named new Tahoe Sports and Entertainment GM

A collegiate Division 1 hockey player and pro prospect was named the new General Manager and Coaching Director for Tahoe Sports and Entertainment, Inc (TSE), the operators of the South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena.

Michael Findorff joins TSE after working for Vail Resorts, most recently as Assistant Manager in Products, Sales and Service. Prior to that Findorff spent two years pursuing a professional hockey career with the New York Islanders and Phoenix Coyotes organizations.

Marijuana grow houses becoming a problem in South Lake Tahoe

There are an estimated 500 unpermitted, illegal marijuana grow houses on the South Shore according to local law enforcement. In the city limits, South Lake Tahoe Police Chief Brian Uhler estimates there are 300 houses where marijuana is growing illegally with another 200 in the El Dorado County portion of the South Shore according to SLEDNET’s Matt Underhill. (SLEDNET stands for South Lake El Dorado Narcotics Enforcement Team, a joint drug enforcement task force)

Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel starts 2nd phase of renovations

In case you haven't been inside the former Embassy Suites in South Lake Tahoe lately, it sounds like it might be time to do so.

The Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel just finished $5M in renovations and has started the next phase, a $3M project that will add alpine mountain ambiance touches to its premium and balcony suites, lobby, banquet rooms and pool area.

South Lake Tahoe locals create Bakpocket eco-products

A new business in South Lake Tahoe is the creation of South Lake Tahoe locals Bryan Burnam and Jacob Hanneman, who have taken their passion for the outdoors to start Bakpocket Products.

Since August 8, the company has their newest product, the Adventure Hammock, listed on Kickstarter, which is a global funding platform designed to help small startup companies to promote their projects and products.

Tahoe native, Dr. Alison Ganong, joins Tahoe Sports Medicine

Alison Ganong, MD will be joining Tahoe Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in September.

The board-certified physical medicine and rehabilitation physician specializes in interventional sports medicine and spine care.

“We are proud and delighted that Dr. Ganong has come on board with Barton Health,” says Chris Proctor, the director of Barton’s Tahoe Center for Orthopedics. “She has an outstanding reputation in her field and is committed to serving the growing number and variety of sports medicine needs in our community.”

Fire danger still extremely high; bans in place

With the major forest fires burning throughout California, Oregon and Washington, it's a good time to remind everyone that there are fire restrictions in place in South Lake Tahoe.

The City of South Lake Tahoe and the U.S. Forest Service both have fire bans in place. Campfires and charcoal barbecues have been restricted to designated forest service recreation sites in the Lake Tahoe Basin since June 26, even if campers and back country hikers have a fire permit.

Crawfish and muscles take center stage at MontBleu Resort

Slash and Aerosmith put on a show in South Lake Tahoe

Fans and City staff were on hand at the South Lake Tahoe airport as Aerosmith arrived for their outdoor concert at Harvey's on Friday afternoon.

Slash took to the stage first, bringing a lot of fan favorites from Guns & Roses as well as new songs. After a full hour of playing, Steven Tyler, Joe Perry and Aerosmith brought out high energy and constant rock and roll. Their set was non-stop action for almost two hours.

Lake Tahoe Attracts Top-Notch Physicians

Physicians are in high demand, but not just from patients. With an impending physician shortage and more job competition, medical administrators and recruiters will spend hours attending meetings, networking, and recruiting to hire top-notch physicians.

In a 2012 study, the Association of Staff Physician Recruiters (ASPR) estimated that physician recruitment costs between $75,000 and $90,000 per doctor. This does not include the time and effort to set up a medical practice and then to retain a physician.

The "Most American Thing in America" heads to the South Lake Tahoe stage

I love Lake Tahoe history and have been looking forward to the much anticipated Chautauqua which is coming to Valhalla's Boathouse Theater on Thursday, August 7.

The Lake Tahoe Historical Museum has had the posters of the event up on its walls for months, getting history buffs and locals excited about seeing the likes of Mark Twain, Anita Baldwin, Hank Monk and Pony Express Rider Warren Epson, all who played important roles in Tahoe's past.

Children's Environmental Science Day

Children and their families are invited by U.C. Davis to visit their Tahoe Center for Environmental Sciences on Saturday, August 9 for a day of hand's on activities.

The 15th annual event is free and sponsored by the Tahoe Environmental Research Center. Children's Environmental Science Day includes more than 30 interactive science activities hosted by local organizations, all aimed at children ages 6 and up.

Former Horizon Casino in Lake Tahoe to become a Hard Rock Casino & Hotel

South Lake Tahoe's Horizon Resort Casino is going to be a Hard Rock Casino & Hotel by the end of 2014 or beginning of 2015.

This comes amid local speculation and rumors that have been circling the community since the Horizon's closure this spring.

The new casino has a facebook page and website already.

Hard Rock Lake Tahoe is undergoing $60M in renovations and redesign that will highlight rock and roll and will also serve as a live music venue.

Tickets For South Lake Tahoe's SnowGlobe Go On Sale Friday

The lineup hasn't been chosen yet, nor have the prices been set or packages been released, but that doesn't seem to matter to SnowGlobe fans.

The South Lake Tahoe New Year's outdoor concert has become one of winter's "Must Do" events, so when they announce tickets are going on sale, concert goers will grab them.

Tickets will go on pre-sale on Friday, May 30 on their website. No other information is available as of yet, but you can sign up for email notifications.

Mom’s Morning Out Held in South Lake Tahoe: A Morning Just for Women

Over 200 women flocked to Lake Tahoe Community College for the fourth annual “Mom’s Morning Out” on Saturday, May 3.

Women of all ages, not just moms, delighted in a morning of pampering and fitness. The morning started with the option to participate in a yoga class with The Studio Lake Tahoe or an outdoor cardio and strength training with Megan Waskiewicz from Lake Tahoe Community College.

Now is the Time to Prevent Colonies of Yellow Jackets in Your South Lake Tahoe Yard

The yellow jacket queens have already been seen in South Lake Tahoe, and if you don't want your backyard volleyball game or summer picnic ruined by them, now is the time to take action.

The queens are the only bee colony member to hibernate in the winter. She emerges in spring and begins to look for a suitable place to build a nest and begin her new colony. By the end of summer one colony can have 4,000 to 5,000 yellow jackets.

So if you take out one queen, you eliminate thousands of bees.
