Stateline's summer music scene has exponentially expanded, spanning both sides of the casino corridor. A music venue will be built at MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa, the site of a six- to 10-show 2012 Summer Concert Series, Director of Marketing Mike Donovan said Friday.

California stream fishing season begins April 28

On Saturday, April 28 the 2012 fishing season will open for all applicable lakes, reservoirs, streams, creeks and rivers in California. The season will then remain open until Thursday, Nov. 15.
If you’re new to the Lake Tahoe and Sierra, here’s some information that can be useful if you would like to fish on that Opening Day or the entire opening weekend:

Plenty of snow at Lake Tahoe for spring skiing, snowboarding

One indication is that Heavenly Mountain Resort is only operating the Boulder base lodge and the Boulder and North Bowl lifts on weekends. In all the years I taught at Boulder never has had a shutdown like this. Too bad because lots of locals liked Boulder as out-of-towners didn't go there very often. Thus, parking was close and runs not crowded.
Seasonal dog ban at Upper Truckee Marsh planned for late spring
Submitted by Editor on Thu, 03/08/2012 - 9:26amFor the second straight year the Tahoe Conservancy will enforce a seasonal dog prohibition at the Upper Truckee Marsh at south shore Lake Tahoe. The dog ban is meant to protect sensitive wildlife areas, including threatened and endangered species, during breeding season. The Upper Truckee Marsh provides critical breeding habitat. The dog ban begins May 1.

League to Save Lake Tahoe Names Darcie Goodman-Collins as New Executive Director
Submitted by Editor on Tue, 01/17/2012 - 12:00pmSouth Shore native Darcie Goodman-Collins has been named the new executive director of the League to Save Lake Tahoe, officials announced today. She replaces Rochelle Nason who resigned last September.
“I’m very excited to move back to Lake Tahoe. I grew up skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, and waterskiing on our beautiful lake. I am passionate about science, education, and the Lake. I will lead the League’s efforts to restore the Lake and work hand in hand with the local community to do so,” said Goodman-Collins in a news release.

Northstar California completes $30 million in upgrades

Northstar California did up things well Tuesday (name change, used to be "at-Tahoe") by officially opening its new multimillion dollar Zephyr lodge at the top of Zephyr lift and a new chairlift, the Promised Land Express. The new quad chair services two new trails. This completes a spending program of $30 million on upgrades, trails and support activities at the Lake Tahoe resort.
