The Lake Tahoe Bicycle Coalition has released their first online bike map that shows the Lake Tahoe region’s regularly snow-plowed bike trails.

People searching for a plowed bike route can now toggle a special seasonal layer in the nonprofit organization’s interactive bike map, available online at tahoebike.org/map. Many of Tahoe’s local jurisdiction clear snow from their shared-use paths, typically after they have completed plowing local roads.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Six families in South Lake Tahoe don't know where they will be spending Christmas after receiving notice Wednesday that the apartment building they've been calling home was found to be unsafe, giving them until Monday, December 17 to find a place to live.

LAKE TAHOE, Nev. - There will be full road closures on State Route 28 south of Incline Village for two nights this week so the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) can install bridges on the new shared used path.

Both directions of SR 28 will be closed between Lakeshore Boulevard in southern Incline Village near Tunnel Creek Café and Sand Harbor State Park from 8:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. nightly Dec. 11 to Dec. 13. The road closures are scheduled for overnight hours to reduce impact on heavy daytime traffic. The closures are weather dependent and subject to change.

With the weather getting colder and the snow falling, it’s time to break out the winter gear, get outside, and start enjoying some frozen nature. However, if you have recently suffered an injury and are looking to get back to outdoor activities, here are a few precautions you may benefit from before charging the backcountry or joining the kids in the terrain park.

There is a public meeting about the San Bernardino Class 1 Bike Path Project on Wednesday, December 5 at the Tahoe Paradise Park Club House at 1011 E. San Bernardino Avenue at 6:00 p.m.

The meeting will still be held even with the recent snowfall.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Phase II of the three-year, $57,000,000 Highway 50 project from the Y to the Trout Creek Bridge in South lake Tahoe is complete and Caltrans will back in the Spring of 2019 to work on the final phase.

The project is a water quality project that has also addressed ADA compliance on curbs, widened bike paths to six feet, added bus pullouts, replaced curbs, gutters and sidewalks, added new pavement, added one stop light, and will have replaced two others and added left turn lane improvements at Sierra Boulevard when it wraps up next year.

Kirkwood has three lifts and 15 trails open; Mammoth is open top to bottom with 12 lifts and 37 trails open; Squaw has Gold Coast open on the upper mountain; Mt. Rose is open top to bottom. The Nevada Department of Transportation has wrapped up the first in a series of overnight full road closures on State Route 28 ahead of schedule.
