High winds delay Tahoe Queen in Carnelian Bay
Submitted by Editor on Sun, 09/09/2012 - 3:55pmA Lake Tahoe cruise ship, the Tahoe Queen, was waiting for whipping winds to subside when it appeared grounded Sunday in Carnelian Bay, Placer County Sheriff’s dispatch and the local boat marina said. Meanwhile, Douglas County Sheriff's Office responded shortly before 4 p.m. to a capsized sailboat about 300 yards off of Cave Rock boat landing. The owner of the vessel reports that everyone is off the boat and accounted for.

According to bear advocates, this bear has been in the area for years. The bear's name was Sunny and it was a mascot for the Bear League, an advocacy group in the Lake Tahoe area.

Placer County Robbers fire grows to 1,952 acres, 170 homes are threatened
Submitted by Editor on Sat, 07/14/2012 - 8:03pmCal Fire says the Robbers Fire has grown to 1,950 acres and is still 20 percent contained. The latest incident update states that three outbuildings have been lost in the fire, and 170 residences are threatened.
The number of injuries has grown by one, to nine. There are 1,952 people working on the fire.
Evacuations remain in effect for homes off Yankee Jims Canyon & Shirttail Canyon area, as well as parts of Iowa Hill.

The renewal, called Measure F, is not a tax increase and, if passed, would continue to be paid by lodging guests only via the TOT bed tax when they spend the night in North Lake Tahoe. North Lake Tahoe residents would not be taxed under Measure F.
