Justin Timberlake already a crowd-pleaser at American Century

Fans of the American Century Golf Tournament in South Lake Tahoe have grown accustomed to superstars, but the addition of actor, singer, golfer Justin Timberlake may bring a whole new meaning to "celebrity" for many in the galleries.

This is Timberlake's first time playing in the tournament at Edgewood Tahoe. The six handicap avid golfer is getting the attention of many who don't usually follow golf.

The 34-year-old Timberlake will tee off at 9 a.m. on Wednesday with actor Alfonso Ribeiro. The two will be paired with amateur players selected to join them.

“We’ve been talking to Justin Timberlake for years about joining the American Century Championship field and his schedule coincides with our tournament dates this year,” said Jon Miller, President of Programming for NBC Sports, which owns and operates the tournament. “He will be a dynamic attraction for the galleries and a perfect fit with the celebrities who come to Lake Tahoe every July.”

Tournament play starts on Friday as stars from the world of baseball, football, hockey, television, soccer, music and more go for the record purse of $600,000.
