Hockey players from around the world playing for Lake Tahoe Blue this year

Did you know that South Lake Tahoe has a professional ice hockey team? The Lake Tahoe Blue are members of the Western States Hockey League and host teams from across the country at their home ice, the Lake Tahoe Ice Arena.

If you were at the South Tahoe High football game last weekend you would have caught a glimpse of the team as they rooted on the Vikings.

This weekend is the home opener for the Blue when they host the Wolverines from Whitefish, Montana. On Friday and Saturday, the games start at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, 2 p.m. Tickets are available at the door. Adults are $10, students $7 and children under ten are $5

The 30 man roster of the Lake Tahoe Blue is made up of players from the USA, Canada, Switzerland, Argentina, Sweden, Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Germany.

There is one home weekend per month with 3 games per weekend and the season goes from September through March, with post season play in April.
