Haunted trails await at Campground by the Lake

Terror in Tahoe, which for years has spooked young and old Halloween enthusiasts is under new direction and has new digs.
Hosted by the City of South Lake Tahoe Community Services/Parks and Recreation, and the South Tahoe Chamber of Commerce, organizers have prepared a haunted trail in the woods at the Campground by the Lake on Highway 50, dead in the center of South Lake Tahoe.
New this year is a family-friendly area put on by the Boys and Girls Club with games and other activities for the little ones. The event will feature food and drink, vendors from all over the area, and live entertainment. Roaming monsters will ensure frightening fun to be had by all.

Terror in Tahoe will run Thursdays through Sunday during the month of October from 7pm to midnight. The cost is $15 for adults and children 12 and under,$7.50. Children are encouraged to visit the children's area and are discouraged from going down the haunted trail, as organizers say is "intensely scary."
Organizer and "professional haunter" Erin Lawrence reports that Terror in Tahoe absorbed the past organizers of the annual show in Meyers.
The former organizers will be on hand for this year's event to play and have fun, she said, "which is great because they put on such a good show."
Lawrence has operated three major screamparks: Phobia in Houston, Texas; SpookyWorld in Foxborough, Mass; and Witch's Woods in Westford, Mass. She recently relocated to South Lake Tahoe.
"This is a community event and we have reached out to local businesses to become vendors," said Lawrence. "The idea is to have this huge event in our shoulder season, which as we grow will bring more tourist dollars to Tahoe and give the locals a safe, fun place to come for Halloween. We are proud to be donating proceeds to Christmas Cheer, whose shelves are bare, the local Boy's and Girl's Clubs of America, and Partners in Parks Scholarship Fund. We will also be giving free admission to our active military personnel, police officers and firefighters and their families."
Vendor space is available and potential sponsors and volunteers are always welcome. Check out the website at www.terrorintahoe2011.com. Call (530) 419-3846 for more information.
