Drug take-back nets 61 pounds of prescription meds
Submitted by Editor on Thu, 05/02/2013 - 10:25pmOn April 27 the South Lake Tahoe Police Department and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration provided the public its sixth opportunity in three years to take back unwanted prescription drugs and collected 61 pounds of prescription medication in South Lake Tahoe, which is the most collected in South Lake Tahoe since this program was started.
In Sacramento, the DEA announced it disposed of 17,741 pounds of unwanted prescription medication, up from last year’s weight of 9,952 pounds.

Edgewood Tahoe opens season May 9 with $1.6 million in upgrades

A 10-year environmental plan meant to reduce impact and save water has been put in place with upgrades to the irrigation system as well as drought and stress tolerant grass. Other improvements include GPS devices on carts that feature yardage and video tips from pros.

The Carson Memories contest asked participants to submit their favorite photos demonstrating something special or distinct about the Carson City area.
The winning photos, along with the other select photos, are being incorporated into an exhibit created by Gardnerville artist, Beverly Caputo. The exhibit is featured next to a recently finished mural painted by Caputo. The mural depicts key people, places and things of historical relevance to Carson City.

As part of the City's initiative to increase communications, we will be offering a 12 part monthly series during 2013 highlighting emergency preparedness.
