EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - There was an increase of 57 confirmed cases Friday in the Lake Tahoe area counties we've been tracking - 7 in El Dorado County, 40 in Washoe County, 2 in Quad Counties, and 8 in Placer County.

There was a jump in COVID-19 cases Friday in El Dorado County with the first diagnosed cases in the 0-17 age group. Since Thursday there were seven new confirmed cases, six in this younger group and one in the 18-49 age group. All of these cases are from the same household of a person with an earlier positive case.

City of South Lake Tahoe: Keep Tahoe safe and visit when restrictions are lifted

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The City is excited about Memorial Day weekend but realize this one will be different than years past.

Property owners are now allowed to come to Tahoe, but visitors are still asked not to be here at this time.

“We love our visitors and recognize how much they contribute to this City and this economy,” said City Manager Joe Irvin, “We just know how important it is to get things open safely, and we all understand we are stronger together and safer apart right now.”

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County is reporting three new cases of COVID-19 since Friday, all in the Lake Tahoe region, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 67. Of the new cases, all are male with two in the 18-49 age group, the other in the 65+ age group.

There were no new recoveries over the weekend, leaving 15 active cases.

505 additional tests were conducted since Friday, 4,408 to date.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - There were two new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in El Dorado County on Friday, both in the Lake Tahoe region. Both of the cases are male, one 18-49 years old and the 50-64 years old.

179 more people were tested in the county with a total now of 3,903. The goal of health officials is 132 per day. There are two free testing sites for those without symptoms in the county that will test anyone with an appointment, one in Shingle Springs and the other in South Lake Tahoe.

There have now been 52 recoveries and there are currently 12 active cases in the county.

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - The County's Public Health Department is reporting four new cases of COVID-19 in El Dorado County, two men, two women with one each in the areas of Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz; Diamond Springs/El Dorado; North County; and South County.

This brings the total number of cases to 60, with 50 recoveries and ten active cases. To date, 3,324 tests have been administered to residents with 131 of those new Tuesday.

Alpine County releases their roadmap to reopening

ALPINE COUNTY, Calif. - Alpine County is grateful to report that we still have only one resident with a laboratory confirmed case of COVID-19 infection. That occurred in March, the person was not hospitalized, and has recovered. Surrounding counties continue to report either no change or a small increase in the number of cases (El Dorado – 56, with 20 in South Lake Tahoe, Douglas (NV) – 24, Calaveras – 13, Amador – 8, Tuolumne – 2, Mono - 32).

Lake Tahoe Community College one of two new free COVID-19 testing sites in county

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County officials announced Sunday they will open two appointment-only community sites for COVID-19 testing for any resident wanting to be tested for the virus, one in South Lake Tahoe and the other in Shingle Springs.

These sites follow Governor Newsom's announcement last week to add more than 80 community COVID-19 testing sites across the state, focusing on underserved communities. His goal is to test 60,000 to 80,000 people per day for the virus as the state prepares to reopen.

Two arrested after pursuit in Douglas County

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - For the second time in as many days, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) was involved in a vehicle pursuit.

On May 2, 2020, at 3:10 p.m. DCSO patrol deputies attempted to stop a motor vehicle with fictitious license plates in the area of Waterloo Lane and Centerville Lane in Gardnerville.

Three new cases of COVID-19 reported in El Dorado County; One in Douglas, 48 in Washoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Since yesterday, the El Dorado County Public Health Department has reported three new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the county told to 47.

Health officials say just one of those cases in actually new, and the other two were listed in the Sacramento County figures. Their identification showed a P.O. Box in Sacramento, but they actually live in El Dorado Hills. Both have since recovered.

Suspect arrested after leading law enforcement on chase in Nevada with stolen car

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - The driver of a stolen Audi has been arrested after leading law enforcement on a chase from Carson City to Minden along US395.

On May 1, at 11:45 a.m., the Carson City Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) located a red Audi two-door vehicle stolen out of California and attempted to pull it over. The driver failed to stop and led CCSO on a chase into Douglas County.

They requested assistance from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) who then took over the pursuit.

Dispute at Lake Tahoe construction site; One transported via Cal Star, other by ambulance

5.1.20 UPDATE: In the morning hours of April 30, 2020, a group of construction workers were involved in a physical altercation at their job site at the new Tahoe Beach Club at the end of Kahle Drive. During the physical fight, a knife was produced and one male sustained major knife inflicted injuries to his head/face and he was transported to Renown Medical Center in Reno via Cal Star.

Another male suffered minor non-life threatening injuries and he was transported to Barton Hospital in South Lake Tahoe.

El Dorado County Supervisors send letter to Newsom asking for phased reopening

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - During their special meeting on Tuesday, the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved sending a letter to Governor Newsom to allow a phased opening of some businesses and loosening restrictions on the public in El Dorado County.

Residents have responded to the closures by abiding by stay-in-place orders enacted to stop the spread of COVID-19.

El Dorado County lifts orders but California stay-at-home orders still in place

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - One layer of stay-at-home orders has been lifted for El Dorado County as its Public Health Officer, Dr. Nancy Williams, has lifted her stay-at-home directive effective April 30, the original date it was to be lifted when set on March 19.

This doesn't mean that South Lake Tahoe and the county are open for business though as the State's order is still in effect.

"We are requesting from the Governor that we [South Lake Tahoe] can move towards reopening in a phased approach with attention paid to his six guidelines," said South Lake Tahoe Mayor Jason Collin.

Humboldt-Toiyabe: No camping in Alpine County, updates on forest use during pandemic

At the request of Alpine County in California, all Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest lands within the boundaries of the county will be temporarily closed to overnight camping starting on Saturday, April 25, 2020.

“We recognize that this overnight camping restriction comes at a time when many are seeking respite in natural areas,” said Forest Supervisor Bill Dunkelberger. “However, this temporary closure is to support state, county, and local authorities in controlling COVID-19 pandemic.”

Former South Lake Tahoe resident donates protective gear to Barton medical staff

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The generosity of a former South Lake Tahoe resident is keeping nurses and other members of the medical team at Barton Health safer during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Brian Gignoux, who spent grades K-10 and early adult life in South Lake Tahoe, heard how medical personnel across the globe were having problems obtaining life-saving protection items like surgical and N95 masks. His medical field friends in South Lake Tahoe were no different.

He talked to Barton RNs Siobhan Keller and Rachelle Pakes, friends of his from childhood, and asked what they needed.

Two new cases of COVID-19 in Lake Tahoe region of El Dorado County

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - There have been two new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in El Dorado County, both in the Lake Tahoe region which includes Meyers and South Lake Tahoe.

One male, one female in the 18-49-year-old range were confirmed over the weekend. Their ages dropped the median age of positive cases from the age of 49 to 47.

This brings the total positive tests in the county to 38.

The county reports 130 new tests administered, and no new recoveries. To date, 1,590 tests have been administered with 1,552 coming back as negative or are pending.

Barton Health community update: Patient surge planning almost complete

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Barton Hospital is prepared to handle a surge in COVID-19 patients with an extra 150 beds identified for use if needed, and if that supply is used, more space is ready to be used through the help of community partners.
