The weather is starting to clear and temperatures are warming up, just in time for the Memorial Day weekend. Paper Tigers, one school's success in helping struggling teens

Art for Animals Gallery Show at Pacific Crest Gallery

There will be a special art show at the Pacific Crest Gallery in South Lake Tahoe on Saturday, May 14 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Students from South Tahoe High have been creating art for the Lake Tahoe Humane Society's Art for Animals program, one which inspires kindness to all animals.

The student art work will be up for sale, with proceeds going to the students and the Humane Society.

Refreshments will be served.

Pacific Crest Gallery is located in the Heavenly Village at 10001 Heavenly Village Way, Suite 29 across from the theater.

Valhalla Boathouse Theatre celebrates 20 years in South Lake Tahoe

It once housed The Shiek, a boat named in honor of Rudolf Valentino, friend and frequent guest to the Pope Estate in South Lake Tahoe. The Shiek was the biggest and fastest boat of its time on Lake Tahoe.

In the late 1800's it housed the boats of William Tevis who owned the 75 acre sprawling estate along the South Shore.

Lenten dramatic presentation at St. Theresa’s

The community is invited to a special Good Friday performance of “The Living Last Words,” a dramatic musical experience commemorating the Seven Last Words of Christ, written by Ruth Elaine Schram, with music direction by Maureen Leonard, and stage direction by Susan Boulanger. This free performance will be presented on Friday, March 25 at 6:00 p.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1041 Lyons Avenue.

A play you'll be dying to go to at Lake Tahoe Community College

Bodies will be dropping like flies as mystery, chaos, and laughter prevail during The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940, a Hollywood murder mystery being performed by by the Theatre Arts Department at Lake Tahoe Community College.

The play, written by John Bishop and directed by Susan Boulanger, will be at the school's Duke Theater March 11, 12, 17, 18, 19 at 7:30 p.m., with Sunday matinees on March 13 and 20 at 2 p.m.

"Chasing Shadows," the most recent Warren Miller ski film will be shown at the theater at South Tahoe High on Friday, January 29, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. Besides the movie there will also be a silent auction featuring custom skis, a hotel stay, ski boots, Sierra-at-Tahoe lift tickets and STHS Alpine Ski Team sweatshirts. The public is invited and tickets are $15.00 per person.

The epic ski movie showing is a fundraiser for the Tahoe Basin Ski League leading STHS Vikings. There will also be ski industry vendors in the lobby prior to the movie to talk to the public.

"The Loft" opens in South Lake Tahoe's Heavenly Village

The Loft opened on December 16 in South Lake Tahoe, offering the area's first indoor year-round live theater which also includes a lounge and Italian dining room.

Designed by PR Entertainment, the $1 million complex features 107-seats, a separate dining area serving authentic Italian cuisine, bar and upscale lounge, all on the top floor of Heavenly Village above the movie theater.

Magic and illusion fans will appreciate "Magic Fusion," The Loft's show staring Tony Clark, winner of the coveted Magician of the Year award and numerous television appearances.

STHS principal's monos featured on Warren Miller film; Chasing Shadows showing at school

By school day, he's the leader on the hill at South Tahoe High School, but by night, he's leading the field of American custom builders of monoskis.

"He" is Chad Houck, second year principal at STHS. Houck was recently featured in his second Warren Miller ski movie, this time in "Chasing Shadows." His first Miller highlight was in 2006 when his monoskiing was in "Off the Grid."

Kudos: STPAL appreciative of volunteers and donations

The South Tahoe Police Activities League (STPAL) would like to extend a thank you to the many community members, organizations and volunteers that made it possible to offer positive alternative activities to the youth of South Lake Tahoe this past summer.

STPAL reached over 60 local middle school-aged kids with the opportunity to learn lifelong skills in mountain biking, skateboarding, and golf alongside positive adult role models.

Documentary "Ellis" being shown at LTCC Duke Theatre

The Loft at Heavenly Village opening soon with magic, food and drinks

The Loft at Heavenly Village has been in the works for months, and now it's just a few weeks from opening day on December 15.

The new indoor, year-round live theater is in a newly created space above the current Heavenly Village Cinemas created by PR Entertainment. It will include a bar and lounge, 107 seat theater and Italian restaurant featuring Chef Lisa Devenchezi-Miller, who also owns of Capisce? in South Lake Tahoe.

Death of a Salesman at Lake Tahoe Community College

An Evening of Contemporary Classical Music with Citywater

Auditions will be held for the Missoula Children's Theatre (MCT) production of Aladdin on Monday July 6 at the South Tahoe Middle School Multi-Purpose room from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Those auditioning should arrive at 10:00 a.m. and plan to stay for the full two hours. Some of the cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the audition.

Sierra Tahoe Children’s Theater presents “The Wizard of Oz”

Put on your ruby slippers and come to the Emerald City Friday, June 26 and Saturday, June 27 as the Sierra Tahoe Children’s Theater presents “The Wizard of Oz.” The production will be held at the TADA Viking Theater at South Tahoe High School.

The stars of the play will be children between the ages of 5 and 14 who have been participating in the two week musical theater workshop, Sierra Tahoe Children’s Theater.

This year’s workshop was attended by over 80 children who were divided into two casts for 4 performances.

Tahoe Arts Project brings musician Todd Green to schools and stage

Dancing With the Tahoe Stars ends in a tie; McDaniel wins People's Choice

The 3rd annual Dancing With the Tahoe Stars is quickly becoming a community favorite. A capacity crowd filled MontBleu Casino Resort to watch ten local celebrities paired with professional dancers vie for the mirror ball trophy.

South Lake Tahoe teacher Lisa McDaniel and Lake Tahoe Unified School Board Member Ginger Nicolay-Davis each ended up with the top honors in the first ever tie. The tiebreaker combined judge's scores, ticket donations and crowd noise.

“The course of true love never did run smooth," wrote William Shakespeare in his most famous comedy, 'A Midsummer Night’s Dream.' Fans of the Bard are in for a treat as the talented South Tahoe High students present this famous play in the school's new, state of the art TADA Theatre March 13-15 and 20-22.

Midsummer's Night Dream will be presented with a Tahoe Twist and promises to keep you in stitches. Director Nannette Niven has a cast of 20 students including Bjorn Hedqvist, Stephanie Hernandez, Zoe Greco, Tyler Martin, Steve Huerta, Zane Brady, Hunter Turney and Jered Stowell.

"Last Days of Judas Iscariot" Coming to the Duke Theater at LTCC

The world’s most infamous betrayer gets his day in court at Lake Tahoe Community College this March. The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, a searingly funny, adult, and thought-provoking play by Stephen Adly Guirgis, will be presented in LTCC’s Duke Theatre March 13-22. Set in a time-bending, darkly comic world between Heaven and Hell, The Last Days of Judas Iscariot reexamines the plight and fate of perhaps the New Testament’s most misunderstood and unexplained sinner.

Auditions for hit musical Pippin being held at LTCC

Actors, singers and dancers of all ages are needed for the Lake Tahoe Community College production of the award winning musical Pippin. Gymnasts, jugglers, acrobats, aerialists are also being sought.

Auditions will be held on Tuesday, February 17 at the college's Duke Theater. Actors are required to sing selections from Pippin for the audition.
