Tahoe Arts Project Presents Vox Musica: Music Worth Sharing

South Tahoe High Performing Arts Boosters Host Gala

The South Tahoe High School Performing Arts Booster Association (PABA) Gala will be held on Saturday, January 25 at 5 pm. For just $30 per ticket you'll get a steak and lobster dinner prepared by local residents, the Romagnolo family. Discounted entrance tickets into the theater department's performance of "Young Frankenstein" immediately after dinner are also available for $10 each.

Dinner is at 5 pm and will be held in the STHS Studen Union. The play will start after dinner in the school's new theater.

Accompanying the accomplished musicians of the RJO are vocalists Cami Thompson and Kenn Pettiford, international Tap star Sam Weber and performers from the Sierra Nevada Ballet under the direction of Rosine Bena. The Reno Youth Jazz Orchestra, conducted by Vern Scarbrough, will open the holiday performance which starts at 7:30 pm.

Trinkle Brass Works presents Portable Masterpieces, a salon/theater orchestra that will bring this music to life at Piper’s Opera House on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. Light classical, ragtime and plenty of melodrama. Just like it was in the late 1800's and early 20th century.

Tahoe Arts Project's Children's Theater Production of Robinson Crusoe

The Missoula Children's Theater visits South Lake Tahoe with a local children's production of Robinson Crusoe on Saturday, November 23. Performances are at 2 pm and 6 pm in the multi-purpose room of South Tahoe Middle School.

Auditions will be held this Monday for the Amazing Adventures of Robinson Cruscoe. The Missoula Children's Theater returns to South Lake Tahoe through the Tahoe Arts Project. An exciting week takes place with auditions on Monday, rehearsals Tuesday through Friday and performances on Saturday!

Budding actors and actresses need to go to the South Tahoe Middle School Multi-Purpose Room on Monday, November 18 for auditions from 4 pm to 6 pm. All children from the age of 5-18 (must be at least in kindergarten).

The South Lake Tahoe Winter of 51/52 and Other Great Stories

Dubbed the "All Star Panel," a group of long time local residents shared stories of a South Lake Tahoe most of us never experienced. The seven panelists have lived in Lake Tahoe a combined 600 plus years and shared some great stories with the overflowing crowd at Camp Richardson Lodge on Tuesday evening. In fact, the number of long time locals in the audience was very evident since their combined years of living in Lake Tahoe was over 1880!

How does a community deal with and recover from a tragedy that shocked the entire world? This November, the Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) Theatre Arts Department will explore that question in its production of “The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later,” by Moisés Kaufman, Stephen Belber, Leigh Fondakowski, and Greg Pierotti. The play seeks to understand a town that is forced to cope with the aftermath of a brutal hate crime, while also facing their own biases and fears under the media spotlight.

Peanutcracker Ballet Ideal for Kids this Holiday Season

The Sierra Nevada Ballet will present the popular “PEANUTCRACKER – The Story in Nut Shell” on December 6 and 7 in Carson City and December 17th in Reno, Nv. Based on Lev Ivanov‘s original ballet “The Nutcracker”, PEANUTCRACKER is a shorter, 45-minute narrated version that is “designed for families with younger children to introduce them to the wonderful world of ballet,” noted Rosine Bena, Artistic Director of the Sierra Nevada Ballet. Bena who wrote and choreographed this traditional holiday show.

Authorities investigate Incline Village armed robbery

Washoe County authorities are asking for the public's help in solving a Jan. 2 armed robbery at a north shore Lake Tahoe gas station in which a gun shot was fired. No one was injured.

A masked gunman entered the Incline Village Chevron gas station at 8:45 p.m. and demanded money from the clerk and then discharged a silver-colored long barrel revolver inside the store, according to the Washoe County Sheriff's Office Special Operations and Investigations Division. The clerk was not injured and no other patrons were in the store.
