Lake Tahoe area roadwork for August 27-Sept 2

The following is a list of the Caltrans projects in the Lake Tahoe Basin for the week.

EMERGENCY PROJECT

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): The highway is reduced to one lane in each direction at Bridal Veil Falls for slope and roadway repair work. Completion is expected by the end of the year.

LONG-TERM PROJECTS

State Route 49 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $22 million project to replace the South Fork American River Bridge in Coloma-Lotus. This project will make seismic improvements to the bridge, widen the structure to allow for 8-foot shoulders and 6-foot sidewalks, and also make roadway improvements to State Route 49 on either side of the bridge. Completion is expected in fall 2018. August 28-September 1 - State Route 49 (El Dorado County) at the South Fork American River Bridge: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday for bridge work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $57 million project from the “Y” intersection with State Route 89 to the Trout Creek Bridge in South Lake Tahoe. This project is building new drainage systems to collect and treat stormwater runoff, rebuilding curb, gutter and sidewalks, widening the highway to allow for bike lanes and resurfacing the roadway. Completion is expected in fall 2019. August 28 – September 1 - U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Dunlap Drive to Winnemucca Avenue: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect the #2 lane closed around the clock from 12:01 a.m. Monday to 8 a.m. Friday for curb, gutter and sidewalk work. Lane shifts will maintain two open lanes in each direction from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

State Route 89 (Placer County): Work has concluded a $62.2 million project from Tahoma to Tahoe City that upgraded storm water drainage and treatment systems, built new curbs and gutters, resurfaced the roadway, added new left-turn pockets and increased the shoulder width on an eight-mile stretch of the highway.

State Route 89 (Placer County): Work continues on a $35 million project in Tahoe City to build a new Truckee River bridge east of the Caltrans Maintenance Yard with roundabouts on either end of the realignment, replace the existing Truckee River (Fanny) Bridge, construct a roundabout at the “Wye” intersection and make complete street enhancements to the portion of State Route 89/West Lake Boulevard that will become a local road after project completion, which is expected in 2018. August 28- September 1 - State Route 89 (Placer County) from Fairway Drive to Mackinaw Road: Motorists can expect shoulder closures around the clock as work continues behind k-rail for grading and rock wall work.

SHORT-TERM PROJECTS

State Route 28 (Placer County) from Grove Street to Lardin Way: Motorists can expect intermittent one-way traffic control and shoulder closures at various locations from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday for utility work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Weber Creek to Carson Road in Placerville: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect the #1 lane closed from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m. Monday through Thursday for guardrail repairs.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from 39 Mile Stone to 42 Mile Stone: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Wednesday for grinding and paving work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Camp Sacramento to Sayles Canyon Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday for paving work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) at the Echo Summit Sidehill Viaduct: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday for bridge inspection work.

State Route 89 (Placer County) at the Truckee River Bridge between Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. Monday through Wednesday for bridge work.

State Route 89 (Placer County) at Squaw Creek: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. Monday through Wednesday for bridge work.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County) at Emerald Bay Sidehill Viaduct: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday for bridge work.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from Big Meadows Creek to South Upper Truckee Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday for slope repair work.

State Route 193 (El Dorado County) at Tegra Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday for driveway paving.

The Caltrans District Traffic Management Branch has reviewed each project and determined that individual project delays are expected to be less than the statewide policy maximum of 30 minutes, unless noted otherwise above. Lanes are numbered from the center divide (#1) to the shoulder (#2, 3, 4, etc.).
